WEEK THREE
WEEK THREE
19 Villagers
They say nothing is healthier for the mind and body than physical labor - especially if you can hold the fruits of it in your hands and store it in your kitchen. Whatever cruelties you have witnessed or endured in the past week, your fields need tending to and they reward you with as quick as harvest as always.
If drowning your grief in work is not enough for you, there are new spots to explore in Puffin Town. Allow the novelty to distract you from your dwindling numbers!
Always remember, the value of a community is not measured by it's size.
(( OOC: Murder proposals are due by Tuesday at 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST for this final week! Get your bloodthirst in or forever hold your peace! Gift submission is still open as well!
If your character has been planting Astera, here's a reminder to report it at the Astera tracker - this does not need to have been threaded, we're just taking stock on an OOC level.))
Flower Dance
Spring is the season of regeneration, of bloom, of life. If you’ve forgotten over the events of the last weeks, the landscape seems to have taken it upon itself to remind you. Appropriate attire has been wheeled out from the costume inventory in Puffin Auditorium, from vintage gowns, suits, and even more modern avant garde fits. This week, everything that flowers is showing itself in its prettiest colors and there is always a gust of fragrant petals whirling through the air. (Where they come from remains mysterious, as all blossoms remain pristine for your viewing pleasure.)
By now, it is unlikely to come as a surprise to see your ducky helpers handing out stacks of flyers. These are pastel in design and their edges have been cut round to add to that Gentle Feeling(™):
Those who choose to check out what the fuss is all about will find the open space behind the Wizard’s Tower lavishly decorated. There is a buffet with all kinds of finger food and colorful drinks. Wooden tiles have been laid out to create a dancefloor without danger of stepping into a molehill. Music is playing from a flimsy-looking yet astoundingly loud gramophone - there’s a collection of EPs next to it, if you want to try your hand at changing up the tunes. Every part of the set-up is decorated with flower garlands.
If you spend too much time wall-flowering, a little duck might just bump into you and catapult you right into the arms of a potential dance partner. Or maybe you’d like to ask a feathery friend to dance instead? They’d be flattered!
((OOC: Participation in the festival in any shape will earn you a gift. Please submit your participation here. ))
???
Eyes to see... a light appear and disappear among the foliage, its green color only distinct against the backdrop through the darkness of dusk.
Huh? ]

He seems to be looking at his drink. ]
Not sure if we should be drinking anything associated with here. [ But he's going to drink anyways. Bottoms up! ]
[ Or he can be found looking at the gramophone. ]
Don't think I've ever seen anything like this, hey.

She does actually bother to wear something nicer than her usual farmcore fits, and she doesn't need a duck to encourage her to talk to anyone.]
Well, how do you feel about being my special someone for a moment?
[Complete with a wink! The horrors persist but a woman can still flirt.]

This is good enough for them, apparently. ]

Or, we can just listen to music and talk.

Mio is here despite the creeping dread, the neckline on her dress giving her bandaged chest room to breathe. No sense in covering it, especially when the air might do it some good. There's also no covering the still-cooling swelling and bruising around the front of her face, from her forehead to the one fading black eye.Felt cute, might delete later this is not. Approach her for a dance, and she might look startled.]
With me? I'm not sure I'm super spry on my feet right now, but... I'd hate to miss it.
[Alternatively, for those who don't want to dance or who are just chilling, she'll gesture to the white flute in her lap.]
Would you rather I play for you instead? I've been dabbling in writing my own just a little bit, and I can probably keep up with what's playing.

The ducks seem to be enjoying themselves.

He might be receptive to dancing if someone bullies him hard enough, but otherwise he's content hanging on the sidelines.]

He does at least check out the Flower Dance out of sheer curiosity, but he lingers (and wall-flowers) for long enough that one of the ducks bumps into him and hurtling towards someone else on the dancefloor. At least he just barely manages to catch himself. ]

he's looking distinctly uncomfortable in his flowery themed fit, periodically tugging at the collar or sleeves every now and then to adjust them and make sure they sit right. honestly, someone probably had to bully him into this outfit, or else he might have just showed up in his usual farmwear— maybe it was you who prevented a fashion disaster? or maybe it's just the ducks. fushigi mystery.
anyway, catch him wallflowering towards the slightly less crowded or populated areas, but if you approach him he'll offer a small, shy smile and wave, absolutely no offer to dance, and a question: ]
... Who do you think plans these festivals, anyway?

Anyone who doesn't look busy with something may get this duck to stop in its tracks...to do a set of exaggerated movements before stopping and looking at them expectantly. (Weird.)
A lack of response will simply get it to repeat the movements before looking at them yet again with sparkly eyes.
So, who knows what this odd duck wants? ]
