They say nothing is healthier for the mind and body than physical labor - especially if you can hold the fruits of it in your hands and store it in your kitchen. Whatever cruelties you have witnessed or endured in the past week, your fields need tending to and they reward you with as quick as harvest as always.

If drowning your grief in work is not enough for you, there are new spots to explore in Puffin Town. Allow the novelty to distract you from your dwindling numbers!

Always remember, the value of a community is not measured by it's size.

Flower Dance

Spring is the season of regeneration, of bloom, of life. If you’ve forgotten over the events of the last weeks, the landscape seems to have taken it upon itself to remind you. Appropriate attire has been wheeled out from the costume inventory in Puffin Auditorium, from vintage gowns, suits, and even more modern avant garde fits. This week, everything that flowers is showing itself in its prettiest colors and there is always a gust of fragrant petals whirling through the air. (Where they come from remains mysterious, as all blossoms remain pristine for your viewing pleasure.)

By now, it is unlikely to come as a surprise to see your ducky helpers handing out stacks of flyers. These are pastel in design and their edges have been cut round to add to that Gentle Feeling(™):

The annual Flower Dance is upon us! Ask that special someone to waltz behind the Wizard’s Tower and maybe your dream might just come true ♥

Food and drink will be provided! Appearing in fancy dress is encouraged!

Those who choose to check out what the fuss is all about will find the open space behind the Wizard’s Tower lavishly decorated. There is a buffet with all kinds of finger food and colorful drinks. Wooden tiles have been laid out to create a dancefloor without danger of stepping into a molehill. Music is playing from a flimsy-looking yet astoundingly loud gramophone - there’s a collection of EPs next to it, if you want to try your hand at changing up the tunes. Every part of the set-up is decorated with flower garlands.

If you spend too much time wall-flowering, a little duck might just bump into you and catapult you right into the arms of a potential dance partner. Or maybe you’d like to ask a feathery friend to dance instead? They’d be flattered!

[The animals... Mio should be off screens for a little while longer thanks to the head injury she received, but she's checking anyway, and this is just one of those things that makes her bolt upright a little too fast. Her typing looks a little worse.]

Yeah, I suppose they'd be all alone now, wouldn't they... can you see if the chickens have corn? Please. Cows can have some. Check farming book for more info.

i'll be back there not too long but might be a little longer still. Just don't give them anything too weird. Please. No pancakes.

[She probably meant he could take a trip to the community center, but hey. Whatever works. It's not like she can offer much more than the books can, though, even once she gets back. She's been learning all she can, but Mio's never seem most of these creatures before.]

[Greetings everybody! Are we feeling normal on this Monday? Some people are faring better than others, and Noah.............

...You can find out for yourself. He can be found working the field on his farm early in the morning, striking at the untilled dirt with his hoe with more gusto than strictly necessary. There's one less person here to help out, after all, and that's as good an excuse as any.

A little later on, he's digging through various bags and satchels in the ??? Hut without much consideration for who these things might belong to. He's collected a small bundle of plants from the garden, and if you ask him why he's taken them, he'll kindly tell you.

Fancy a trip to the mines? You can find Noah bashing on slimes and rocky crabs with abandon, Lucky Seven in hand. Don't mind him, he's just staying up to date on his target practice.]

[ Yo, Noah. You're bashing things with abandon, you say? Don't mind if she joins with an Adventurer's Guild sword of her own.

Shinobu clears her throat to announce her presence, then she gestures to some slimes on her side. ]

Can I?

[ Or do you want the whole room, dude... ]

[revelate]

[Oh? She's not here to stop him, so he's not about to turn Shinobu away. Noah throws the briefest glance at her over his shoulder and nods before turning to cleave a slime clean in half.]

By all means. There's no shortage of these things.

[hyperbloom]

Let's go, then.

[ Cue dramatic action movie duo scene where they're just. Hacking and slashing at things, I guess. ]

Does this - [ There goes another slime. ] help you?

[revelate]

[What a flashy dynamic duo they are. If it's all the same to Shinobu, Noah will carry them further into the mines where more, stronger enemies wait.]

Help me?

[He sounds vaguely incredulous. If he could laugh right now, maybe he would.]

It's all I can do to keep my skills sharp in this place. We've both seen how pointless it is to let our guards down.

[hyperbloom]

[ They are tired of being nice.

Shinobu follows him in and continues to slice at anything that gets in her way. ]

Of course. I wouldn't be here if I thought otherwise-

[ Said through a grunt when she slices at a monster that tries to jump out at her. ]

But we can't let them break us, either- [ Another one, dead. ] because that's what they want.

[revelate]

[That grunt catches his attention, and while Noah doesn't address it, he does step back to guard Shinobu's back as the monsters grow larger in number. Even at his McWorst, he's not going to let a friend get hurt on his watch.]

That's the last thing we can afford to do.

[A slime bounds off a nearby wall and hurdles itself at them. Noah raises his blade, sharp side forward, and hacks it to bits.]

This blade was special— strong enough to cut through anything. Anything at all. They've weakened it, but that doesn't mean it won't cut them down just as easily.

[hyperbloom]

They weakened it...

[ That's not good. That's not good at all. She says it under her breath -- just what can't these two do? ]

It won't matter in the end. They won't win.

[ She'll watch his front, then, while he guards her back. She's glad he hasn't lost his humanity, despite everything that's happened. When there's a moment to breathe, she'll say hurriedly: ]

I'm glad we met, you know. And I'm going to do whatever it takes to get myself and you guys out of this thing alive.

[ She wants him to know that. She gave herself away at the trial, after all. ]
