TRIAL TWO
TRIAL
Once again, the investigations conclude -- though they're more ponderous this time, burdened by the number and knowledge of additional deaths, and the awareness that there's limited means of dealing with them -- and once again the ducks gather everyone at the back of the JojaMart along with Makima's wagon, Adela's quiet, the pile of evidence.
Everyone trundles into the loading bay, which isn't all that much livelier than before, penned in by stacks of shelves and crating; but at least it's functional, overly well-lit and there's tea to while away the time discussing murders and mayhem.
As the loading bay door slides closed, you're left with a wagonful of evidence, a double handful of murders and the knowledge that time is ticking down -- for everyone.
(( OOC: Welcome to trial: the sequel! You'll have 7 hours (until 8 PM EST/5 PM PST) to vote one (1) person guilty of murder. As this is scapegoat style, a correct vote is not necessary. Please remember to vote unless otherwise discussed with the mods, as that is our AC for this game. ))
NPCs
Makima
[This week Makima is speaking sitting down, megaphone lightly propped in her lap; her gaze is serious but her tone is businesslike; unfortunately, you all know how this goes by now, despite everything.]
We'll be keeping to the rules given for this week: 7 hours for 1 vote. I understand that a lot of you may feel it's not sufficient for how bloody last night was, but keep in mind that being bloodthirsty last week could have led to the conviction of an innocent. Do your best to remain calm and find the truth. I'll be here to support your decision.

DISCUSS INVESTIGATION
Dongrang's body!
[ faldeus sighs heavily as he says that, as if the weight of dongrang's loss were beginning to fall on his shoulders. he'll set his device on the counter open for others to view the album reel. ]
The pictures may not be the best... but I tried to take as many as I could. It has a picture of the scene as I entered, the wound, and a couple more things that I found.
Dongrang was found laying on his back, with a slit throat. By the time I got there, his body was already in rigor mortis While the cut was not deep enough to cut through the trachea, it did cut the jugular. It was a clean cut, done with something relatively sharp, considering the edges. That was the only open wound that I could see, but not the only injury. He also had a small knot on the back of his head, so he might have hit his head with something.
[ he sets down a thermos on the table as well. ]
This thermos was found under his coat while I was moving him around. It's filled about half way with some sort of cloudy, odorless liquid. I don't recommend anyone drinks it, in the chance that it's some sort of poison. On that subject, I also found a blue stain on the hem of his coat. And on the back of his coat is a smeared handprint. While not exactly conclusive, the hand size is around mine or smaller.
I also noticed that, while he looked relatively peaceful at first glance, I believe that his body was manipulated after death, between his sleeping pose and the fact that he had smear marks around his wound and his gloves were bloodstained.
[ umm... ]
The cow was fine. She was sleeping next to him, but didn't have any marks on her.

bibi's bobody
Well, we found Beezelbub at the blacksmith's. He had collapsed right by the door, and only moved after the window was broken. [wwx's poor hand...] That's his story to tell, and I'm sure some of you will demand explanation considering that's also where Beatrice was.
[She looks over to Wei Wuxian for a moment, nodding at him.]
The two of us took a look at her body to see what was there - autopsies aren't exactly my strong suit, after all, but it was hard to miss the hole in her chest. Right over her heart, looking like someone just hacked at her until they could get through the ribs. They weren't precise at all, but they were on target. Saying that, I have a mind to say they didn't take the heart with them. There was some viscera on the floor that might have been a heart at one point - seemed like muscle, and about what I think would be the right size.
She had also been hit on the head, or maybe bumped into something, and there were some smaller bruises on her shin, knee, and elbow that seemed pretty fresh. She had a chipped nail, too.
Seemed like she had been walking around for a while, though - there was a ton of dirt and some leaves stuck to the bottom of her slippers.
[Nodding at Wei Wuxian again.]
Anything else you can go ahead and tell the crowd.

wizard's tower
Eisuke and I investigated the wizard's tower. We had actually been there with a few others last night, waking up to shards of glass on the floor. The glass was scattered in a way that was consistent with shattering from impact.
I spent most of my time investigating up on the top floor with the laboratory. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the giant pool of blood on the floor. There was quite a bit of it and it was still mostly wet, and little drops of blood led from the pool and down the stairs.
Other than that, there had been plenty of activity at the crafting table. I found three flasks, two filled with a brown liquid and one flask with dribbles of blue liquid inside. It looked like most of that blue liquid had run off of the crafting table and down into the pool of blood on the floor. Eisuke checked underneath the crafting table and was able to confirm the same about the blue liquid. Underneath and on the other end of the crafting table, however, he spotted a pool of brown liquid and a lot of glass... and noticed that that corner of the room happens to drop off into the open air staircase that leads down below. The brown liquid made a strange sort of U-shaped trail from the puddle to the pool of blood, though it didn't mix with the blood.
I also noticed that two sets of lab gear were missing, and Eisuke found a white button on the floor, further away from the crafting table.

GORMOTTI(?)-HERD
There was a lot of bloodshed last night and several things spilled to boot. We'll be checking for stains and injuries or signs of washing up shortly. I believe this is more uncomfortable for some of you than others, but it'll go quickly. Thanks for cooperating; it means a lot.
It's possible Dongrang was attacked while trying to use alchemy to defend himself or that his killer tried to force him to drink a poison. If he died in the tower, the person who killed him would have needed to carry him a great distance and downstairs. The possibility they used a growth potion is high, as there were gloves that...stretched? I guess. It's difficult to identify many of the liquids, but we do have the knife and evidence that something was rinsed away, as well as a handprint left on Dongrang's back.
Walter believes that Amy was likely killed before Bibi, and the entire group might have run from Corpse Flower to Jade Vine to the blacksmith's. We do have a handprint from a rag left behind at the blacksmith and a rough estimate of who they might match. How exactly Beelzebub made it to the blacksmith while unawares is a little muddier... He may have been hit too hard up the head. Because of Bibi's injuries, it was probably personal or a statement about love, and I think it must have been done after Beelzebub was unconscious. [Mio pauses; she's still chewing on this love thought in particular but seems to have nothing to add for now.]
At this moment, I believe Dongrang's death was caused by someone else. We may be looking for two killers, at minimum.
That's about what I've gathered from listening to you all. Is there anything I've forgotten?
no subject
...Dongrang did tell me he wanted to be able to defend himself, after what happened last week.
[gazes in the direction of erika]
So him going for alchemy to defend himself makes sense, since it wasn't like he was much of a fighter. I know it doesn't actually make this easier to solve, but if anyone was still doubting his intentions...

RESULTS
Makima has been glancing back and forth as the investigation results and the decisions started coming in, a touch thoughtful but otherwise as inscrutable as the last time they got to this point. The tally is just as easy and smooth, pieces of paper piling up to bury someone.
She'll stand for this part, still, nodding as things wind down once the deadline passes.]
Your votes have been tallied. You've voted for Beelzebub as the guilty party, but votes were also cast for Kuki, Mio and White. I'm glad to see we've all cast valid votes this time around, despite the difficult decision you've arrived at.
[She'll gesture to Beelzebub, ceding the floor if he wishes.]
Do you have any final words, Beelzebub?
[OOC: Please let Beelzebub comment before replying. Thank you everyone ~]
