TRIAL

Once again, the investigations conclude -- though they're more ponderous this time, burdened by the number and knowledge of additional deaths, and the awareness that there's limited means of dealing with them -- and once again the ducks gather everyone at the back of the JojaMart along with Makima's wagon, Adela's quiet, the pile of evidence.

Everyone trundles into the loading bay, which isn't all that much livelier than before, penned in by stacks of shelves and crating; but at least it's functional, overly well-lit and there's tea to while away the time discussing murders and mayhem.

As the loading bay door slides closed, you're left with a wagonful of evidence, a double handful of murders and the knowledge that time is ticking down -- for everyone.

So now we have to ask how the culprit got him from the tower to the livestock barn.

You're right. That amount would be consistent with his injury.

It's quite a distance from one to the other, isn't it? Not to mention the stairs they had to take him down in the tower itself.

So they had to be strong as hell or use something to move him, right?

Man, that would make anyone tired as hell, yo. All those stairs while carrying someone.

It would have to be someone with a lot of strength and endurance.

Or they had enough time to recover and get their bearings.

Think they used the cow for part of the transport?

From the tower to the livestock show... it's certainly possible.

So, someone good with animals? Because that donkey sure as hell wasn't listening to me when I tried to get it to help me transport stuff earlier this week.

... Dunno about cows, though.

Someone would need to know how to handle them well, I agree. Leading a cow isn't easy, I'm sure.

You need a lot of patience to lead one. They can be very stubborn; I have seen so many struggle with that before!

I think a cow would have left prints somewhere along the way. If there were none maybe a cow wasn't involved?

I didn't check, to be honest... If there were no prints or wheel tracks, then maybe he really was carried all the way over there.

That'd narrow it down significantly if we can prove it. How many of us can actually carry 135 pounds without help? I know I would have needed wheels or ended up dragging him.

So would I. While I can carry something heavy for a short distance... down the stairs is another obstacle itself.

It's definitely a lot to carry, especially that far.

I could manage it for a short distance as well, but not down that entire flight of stairs without some sort of assistance.

Oh hey! Someone mentioned something about a growth potion or whatever. They could have drank some of that to get bigger, right?

Would explain why the cow was just sleeping the whole time, right?

I think it's possible, though I don't really know much about the behavior of cattle.

They would probably still have had to carry him down the stairs themselves though, wouldn't they? Even if something was used, I can't imagine someone wheeling... I don't know, a wheelbarrow all the way up to the top of the tower...

Neither can I. At that point, I think it'd be easier to just carry him down the stairs and then use something to transport him from the wizard's tower to the livestock show.

Hopefully that broken window wasn't his method of transportation.
