WEEK THREE

WEEK THREE
19 Villagers

They say nothing is healthier for the mind and body than physical labor - especially if you can hold the fruits of it in your hands and store it in your kitchen. Whatever cruelties you have witnessed or endured in the past week, your fields need tending to and they reward you with as quick as harvest as always.

If drowning your grief in work is not enough for you, there are new spots to explore in Puffin Town. Allow the novelty to distract you from your dwindling numbers!

Always remember, the value of a community is not measured by it's size.
(( OOC: Murder proposals are due by Tuesday at 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST for this final week! Get your bloodthirst in or forever hold your peace! Gift submission is still open as well!

If your character has been planting Astera, here's a reminder to report it at the Astera tracker - this does not need to have been threaded, we're just taking stock on an OOC level.))

[ vayne lives in the mines, thank you (no he does not.), so he's there, actually mining, when noah's ... commotion comes echoing his way.

(he's not unarmed, of course. he has his own adventurer's guild branded sword. but unlike some people, he's here for the loot, not... the combat exp, it seems like.) ]

... Was there something you were trying to do, down here?

[ he has a suspicion of the answer, but he wants to hear it first. maybe it isn't just monster extermination for monster extermination's sake. ]

[Consider yourself fortunate, Vayne: Noah is too emotionally drained and sleep-deprived to give you a saucy answer. He does, however, turn to face him like 🧍‍♂️, sword in hand.]

Keeping my skills sharp. I believe we've all gotten too comfortable here, wouldn't you say?

[Really, this is nothing different than what he does at home. It would've been nice to escape constant battle and bloodshed, but alas! People are going to kill each other whether they truly have to or not. Noah's embraced this fact.]

... I don't know that we've gotten comfortable.

[ attempting to make the best of a terrible situation, trying to find another way and — failing, perhaps, thus far, does not comfortable make. is anyone happy with the way things are?

... well, maybe erika. but this... staying sharp is one thing, Noah, but this seems... ]

Then again, I don't think I could speak for everyone anyway. But I know I'm not happy with the way things are here, and neither are you.

I ... don't think you can really call that 'comfortable,' no matter how you look at it.

[He'd agree with Vayne, normally. To think along such cynical lines isn't "like him," but what good has blindly placing his faith in these strangers done for him? He'd liked Beelzebub. Trusted him insomuch as he could. Seeing that trust nearly kill someone precious to him broke something inside of him.

Listening to Vayne now, Noah isn't convinced he can trust his word either. He could be lying. He could be waiting for his chance to act and secure his own escape. He could be, yet—]

...No, I suppose you can't. But what's being done to escape this place? We're thwarted at every turn, and instead of looking for alternatives, we've largely accepted our lot. Do you see it any differently?

... what should we be doing instead, then? If we've been trying to find a way out and keep failing, is it... really so wrong to try to make our situation at least livable? So we can keep trying? I don't think any of us is tireless...

[ it makes sense to him that they can't always be doing. he doesn't think any of them actually intends to want to stay here.

but... given what had happened yesterday. what Noah had yelled out, during the middle of it all— what was it? that mio doesn't have time? maybe some people can't afford to rest. is that why? ]

What would you rather we do, at this point...?
