23 Villagers

Three people have fallen and a tower has risen. Along with it, some of the restraints on your mind have dispersed and a memory has returned to you - is it precious, is it painful? Is it cherished, is it loathed?

Mercilessly, dawn breaks on another morning. The rooster still calls, and the crops still need tending to. Rise and shine, Puffin Town! It seems like the residents are not the only thing that has chosen to rise, as a few more establishments have opened up for exploration. The sound of moo-ing near the farms may feel especially inviting here - how about making some new additions to your farms, to drown out your loneliness?

There is no festival just yet but if you question the ducks on it, some excited quacking will herald fun things to come later in the week. Some of the ducks will also wave the gift notes from last week; regardless of murder, being kind to your neighbors is still encouraged! Can't let our beautiful town sink into gloom and doom, right?

(( OOC: Murder proposals are due by Tuesday at 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST, for the current week's murder, but feel free to submit for later weeks if you like!

We have also added a page to report your Astera planting - this does not need to have been threaded, we're just taking stock on an OOC level.

Further, the Gift Mechanic has been updated. All turned in threads will now yield a character specific item as a reward! We're only dipping into the random gacha once all personalized rewards have been given out.))

. Starry Nights Festival

The stars are always beautiful out in the countryside, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take the time to appreciate them! And as luck would have it, this week the stars are in a fortuitous alignment, whatever that means.

The ducks have set up picnic blankets take two on the beach, with assorted offerings from the food carts but with the very important addition of s’mores and dotted here and there with bonfires for that freshly roasted smell. There’s also empty booths scattered here and there and a wealth of stock and decorating supplies – as though the festival isn’t quite complete yet…

During the Starry Nights, Puffin Town comes together to make a one of a kind nighttime street festival that only lasts while the stars align! Open your own booth, no matter what it is, and in return your wishes may come true! ☆☆☆

Among the booths already set up, there's one particular tent up offering tarot card readings in the spirit of mysticism and the night. Helpfully, there's a 101 guide on Tarot Cards for those who aren't familiar. Maybe it’ll help you decide what booth to open? Or even give advice for the course of your life in Puffin Town! The ducks will try their best to get you to draw a tarot, but they also welcome help from those who are divination-ly inspired!

[So the weekend sure happened, huh? Dongrang wishes it didn't, but life has a way of not going how you want it to. After spending Sunday recuperating from All Of That, he's finally back out and about early Monday morning.

First thing's first is chores. He can be found tending to crops and planting new seeds in the fields of Corpse Flower Farm until the sounds of farm animals catch his attention. He doesn't enter the Livestock Show at first, though. He simply observes from outside. Or...is he even observing? He's giving the animals a very, very blank stare. Uh.

Well, he does take some chickens home in the end!

After his farm work is done, Dongrang makes his way into town and discovers the food vendors. He spends a good amount of time here, exploring and observing all the food options. Some meat skewers and a cold can of beer prove to be revitalizing after the morning's stress.

He offers a small wave and calm smile to any neighbors who happen to be wandering the market.]

Have you tried the meat yet? It's absolutely delicious. These ducks are truly talented.

[One more new location captures Dongrang's interest: the wizard's tower. He's a nerd, of course it would. He remains there until nighttime, poring over the archives and picking out some books to read. What sort of opportunities would alchemy afford him, he wonders...]

[There's a duck here who is not part of the food vendors - a little guy dressed in a toddler-sized sweatshirt. But...oh no! It looks like it's tripped and fallen flat on its face in front of Dongrang and spilled its little ice cream cone over the ground.]

[It's making a little mournful duck sound. What's a sad duck to do...]

[ Nine can be found in or around the Livestock Show. ]

It's a bit weird for birds to be taking care of birds, yo. [ He says as he watches the ducks feed the chickens.

Later, he can be found kneeling down by the chickens. ] Hey, they almost look like chocobos. Think they'll get hella big? [ Imagine. Giant chickens.

Nine can also be found at the beach or at the food vendors chowing down. ]

[With the sound of mooing heralding the morning, Beelzebub is curious to check out just what has changed about the town whilst he wasn't paying attention.

His first stop is the livestock show, and - to him - the main attraction. He spends a lot of time quietly feeding hay to the horses, stroking their snouts as they'll allow him. It's peaceful, pleasant...he looks rather morose as usual, but there's just a hint of softness to his face...

Beelzebub's trip around town is cut rather short by his return to corpse flower farm. He's brought that very same horse back with him, and from behind the mewing of a cat can be heard. Wordlessly, he sets the horse up in one of the stables, giving it encouraging strokes as he settles it in. The mewing increases in frequency and intensity until Beelzebub whirls around.]

Enough, Lucifer.

[...and he'll pick the little sand-coloured kitty up. Heart of stone, this guy.

He spends the rest of the day at the wizard's tower, cat in tow, checking out...pretty much all of the books they have there. Whilst alchemy is largely disinterests him, the books on spirits and fairytales seem to capture his attention.]

[ Amy stares at the back of Dongrang’s head from a distance for a little while before she approaches. He can’t be happy about everything that happened… Erika can certainly be an unmournful force of nature… ]

This is… new.

[ Her voice is small. Her overalls are too big. That was an entire sentence. Nailed it. ]

Oh...!

[Dongrang didn't expect this at all, so he's stunned for a moment until he realizes he should probably...help. He glances around for a spot to place his food. The edge of a vendor's cart will have to do for now.]

Are you all right? Here...

[He reaches down to help the poor duckie up.]

[Dongrang's entire demeanor seems to shift the moment Amy speaks up. He's back to his usual chill self like nothing happened.]

It is. Makes you wonder where they all were until now, doesn't it?

[ Watching him feed the horses before he does a double take as he looks down at the legs. ] Whoa! [ Gesturing to four leggies ] Hey, is that normal?

The legs. Shouldn't there be more or something?

[ Give him a moment to think and actually count the four that are there. ]

Uh... two more? Yeah, definitely needs two more. [ Look, they only have Sleipnir or scale-ies ]

[ Here is Enkidu, checking the animals out, apparently. ]

...Chocobos? Are those some type of bird?

[ Between this and Dongrang's chickens, the farm is suddenly a very lively place. Bibi doesn't have a whole lot of connection to chickens, but horses? Cats? Those are cute and she is openly delighted. ]

Does the horse also get such an edgy name?

[ Animals are a bit of a complicated topic for Bibi, but they are also cute and fun to watch so here she is. Watching. Hanging out with a roommate while doing it isn't so bad either. ]

How big? I don't think they'll grow much larger, but I need to know about the massive poultry of your world.

[ ... okay, so. Bibi kind of has the same reaction to it. Yesterday's memory makes especially the dogs playing around the stables a very strange sight to her.

Maybe we can both just stand here... looking blankly at the animals. A contest of who notices the other person first. ]

He does hear someone approach, but doesn't think much of it until he blinks and truly realizes Bibi's there.]

Ah- Did you come to take a look at the animals too, Bibi?

[The poor duckie does manage to get to its feet, waaaaahing at the loss of its ice cream, before it casts its appreciative gaze to it savior. Wow...Mister Dongrang......your nerd arms are so strong...]

[It nods a lot at the offer. Yes, please! Ice cream! (Can ducks eat ice cream?)]
