WEEK TWO

23 Villagers

Three people have fallen and a tower has risen. Along with it, some of the restraints on your mind have dispersed and a memory has returned to you - is it precious, is it painful? Is it cherished, is it loathed?

Mercilessly, dawn breaks on another morning. The rooster still calls, and the crops still need tending to. Rise and shine, Puffin Town! It seems like the residents are not the only thing that has chosen to rise, as a few more establishments have opened up for exploration. The sound of moo-ing near the farms may feel especially inviting here - how about making some new additions to your farms, to drown out your loneliness?

There is no festival just yet but if you question the ducks on it, some excited quacking will herald fun things to come later in the week. Some of the ducks will also wave the gift notes from last week; regardless of murder, being kind to your neighbors is still encouraged! Can't let our beautiful town sink into gloom and doom, right?

(( OOC: Murder proposals are due by Tuesday at 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST, for the current week's murder, but feel free to submit for later weeks if you like!

We have also added a page to report your Astera planting - this does not need to have been threaded, we're just taking stock on an OOC level.

Further, the Gift Mechanic has been updated. All turned in threads will now yield a character specific item as a reward! We're only dipping into the random gacha once all personalized rewards have been given out.))

Nah. I'm not dead. [ Not yet! ] I mean that those who are still alive lose their memories of the dead. It's like all the moments you spent with them is gone from your mind. Sometimes the feelings stick around and you feel like there's something about them, but you can't recall it no matter how much you try.

...I was just thinking, that if someone were to die, they should be able to keep the memories of someone they cared about. Those Crystals sound terrible.

[ Now they just look a little sad at the thought. But there is admittedly a personal reason as to why it does bother them.

[ It's strange because Nine spent his whole life thinking it's the best. You forget and just keep moving. Keep your eyes on the past.

Being here where the memories stick has been different ~~and will be much more so in the following week because rip Corpse Flowers~~. Years of bring told you're better off without it can't be really shaken so quickly though. It does get him to pause though. ]

[ They don't know where they belong now, but it's fine. ]

It depends. Some people believe the heart may matter than an appearance. Which, in certain instances is true. No one knows what kind of darkness may be lurking behind a pretty face.

[ Nine being the Loci of Action has been conditioned to think it doesn't matter what is in the past and only to focus on what's ahead.

Looks like they both are in thinking thoughts they don't really want to. ]

Must be quite the friend. [ Lowering his voice a bit to continue the next part ] Between you and me, I do have some people that would be weird as hell to forget. [ They are all expecting it to happen at some point though. ]

Darkness doesn't really matter to me, yo. So long as you're trying to help out and not hurting anyone here who can't fight back, then it's all good to me.

[ That lady who conditioned him needs to gtfo.

They're both having a fun time regardless, though. ]

Those who seek to make you forget, think they know what's better, when that's certainly not true.

[ Enkidu's words sound ominous, perhaps, but they think what they're saying is simply only natural. It is unnatural to be made to forget such things, just like how the way this place's way of being is in some ways. ]

Who are you fighting against?

The Melty- [ Wait ] The Militesi Empire. They decided to declare world on the whole world, yo. Attacking everyone during a time of peace and starting the whole thing.

It sounds like history at work, with an Empire wishing to do as it pleases.

Though, speaking as a biased party, I don't wish very well for their existence.

[ They do think this seems a lot more complex than it appears, though. ]

We are kicking their asses and make them regret ever trying to mess with us.

[ He seems proud of that. Though hmm... ]

Do you have any experience with Empires doing as they wish?

...Not really.

[ Uruk wasn't really an Empire, and well, as for the rest of those ancient times... ]

I don't tend to get myself involved in that. But, I know the history of man functions like that.

You know, that's one thing that isn't surprising to see in other worlds. [ Maybe it's conditioning or something else, but War and fighting feels like a natural thing. ]

So what do you get yourself involved in then?
