WEEK TWO

WEEK TWO
23 Villagers

Three people have fallen and a tower has risen. Along with it, some of the restraints on your mind have dispersed and a memory has returned to you - is it precious, is it painful? Is it cherished, is it loathed?

Mercilessly, dawn breaks on another morning. The rooster still calls, and the crops still need tending to. Rise and shine, Puffin Town! It seems like the residents are not the only thing that has chosen to rise, as a few more establishments have opened up for exploration. The sound of moo-ing near the farms may feel especially inviting here - how about making some new additions to your farms, to drown out your loneliness?

There is no festival just yet but if you question the ducks on it, some excited quacking will herald fun things to come later in the week. Some of the ducks will also wave the gift notes from last week; regardless of murder, being kind to your neighbors is still encouraged! Can't let our beautiful town sink into gloom and doom, right?

(( OOC: Murder proposals are due by Tuesday at 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST, for the current week's murder, but feel free to submit for later weeks if you like!

We have also added a page to report your Astera planting - this does not need to have been threaded, we're just taking stock on an OOC level.

Further, the Gift Mechanic has been updated. All turned in threads will now yield a character specific item as a reward! We're only dipping into the random gacha once all personalized rewards have been given out.))

[Well, this is a quaint little stand. They’re not the sort of things he’ll pick up for himself, but it’s interesting to browse. But what really catches his eye are the gold bars, and there’s a raised eyebrow here as he addresses Vayne.]

Busy at the mines, or did you you find someone’s hidden stash?

The... ah, ducks actually brought these ones to me. I haven't actually gone looking in the mines for this kind of stuff yet...

[ the ducks, you know. ]

[…why the duck do they just have bars of gold just lying around]

…I see. [he does not, in fact, see. but sure, it might as well be like this. anyways, assuming Vayne doesn’t slap his hand away or shoo him off, Niles is going to try and pick up one of those gold bars to test its heft. is this the real deal??]

Think there’s more where that came from? I’d be fascinated to see what hole they’re digging these out of.

[ warily and carefully, vayne will allow niles to check the gold because you know, fair. stard*w valley gold! alchemist tested, Niles checked. it's 100% real gold.

he will, however, expect that back, niles. provided the archer doesn't just attempt to make a break for it on him or something vayne will reply: ]

I figure there's probably more to be found if we actually go looking, but I'm not sure how far in we'd have to go to actually find anything decent ... Maybe that's why they brought it out too us, though? To encourage us and let us know this kind of stuff is there?

[bless vayne for letting niles manhandle his goods. anyways time to take his prize and run

okay fine he’ll give it back.]

No time like the present, then… That is, if there were any real value to owning such a nugget here. [and this is when he’ll plop the gold bar back by vayne.] Wonder if they’re trying to tempt us to stay with the prospect of easy riches.

[ thank you for handing the bar back, niles. ]

Probably not, unless it turns out they're important for making something... I mean, I'm not an expert on economics or anything, but I'm pretty sure most of gold's value is because. Um. People tend to have given it that high a value...?

[ and since they're the only people here, as far as they know, and they're functioning on a bartering economy at best, ]

But if you want to go look in the mines for anything nice or valuable, I wouldn't mind coming with you. There's probably something useful down there to make things with...

[yw he accepts gold in exchange for thanks

He doesn't disagree with Vayne's assessment of the gold's value though, and that's definitely part of why he's not concerned with nabbing more of it from the mines or otherwise also one gold bar can't even buy a dinky bronze sword anyway.]

Offering a date, are you? I wouldn't be opposed to the company, provided you can hold your own. Got experience with handling a sword?

... Alchemists where I'm from usually gather their reagents and materials themselves, so yeah, I can defend myself. I don't know what it's like in other places, but I can deal with monsters decently enough.

[ he would not normally be so blasé about the alchemist thing, but like. alchemy is already on his profile, so. here we are.

can't wait for golden end to involve using the actual literal gold to make a gold hoe to smack the npcs with-- ]
