23 Villagers

Three people have fallen and a tower has risen. Along with it, some of the restraints on your mind have dispersed and a memory has returned to you - is it precious, is it painful? Is it cherished, is it loathed?

Mercilessly, dawn breaks on another morning. The rooster still calls, and the crops still need tending to. Rise and shine, Puffin Town! It seems like the residents are not the only thing that has chosen to rise, as a few more establishments have opened up for exploration. The sound of moo-ing near the farms may feel especially inviting here - how about making some new additions to your farms, to drown out your loneliness?

There is no festival just yet but if you question the ducks on it, some excited quacking will herald fun things to come later in the week. Some of the ducks will also wave the gift notes from last week; regardless of murder, being kind to your neighbors is still encouraged! Can't let our beautiful town sink into gloom and doom, right?

(( OOC: Murder proposals are due by Tuesday at 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST, for the current week's murder, but feel free to submit for later weeks if you like!

We have also added a page to report your Astera planting - this does not need to have been threaded, we're just taking stock on an OOC level.

Further, the Gift Mechanic has been updated. All turned in threads will now yield a character specific item as a reward! We're only dipping into the random gacha once all personalized rewards have been given out.))

ghost orchids farm

[ Morning! There's a duck in blue here waddling its way towards the Ghost Orchid Farms' cottage door with what appears to be a sack. It's going to be trying to reach for the doorknob when it gets there, but unfortunately, it's toddler-sized. What's a duck to do?

Sighing, it looks around before its eyes fall on the crops area, and subsequently, Vayne.

Jiiiiiii. ]

[ You know that indescribable not quite prickly, not quite itching feeling you get when you're being stared at? Yeah, that's what he's getting right now as he straightens up from doing productive things out in the fields. Where is it coming from...

Ah. There is a duck on the doorstep. ]

... Err, did you want to be let in?

[duckinghell]

[ The duck nods vigorously, jumping up and down before ending in a twirl.

Let it iiiiiiiin! ]

You guys don't usually come this far out of town, do you...?

[ how strange... but fine, he was mostly finished anyway, it would be good to start washing up.

so he'll make his way over to the door with a bemused air about him. time to let both himself and this odd duck in. is he going to regret this. ]

[ Looks like that's supposed to be a response? More importantly, this little duck will waddle in, politely wipe its feet...



...And zooooooooooooooooooooom off towards the stairs!

H-hey, wait a minute! Don't just run off into strangers' houses...!

[ chases??? the duck??? where are you going, little buddy ]

[ Who knows? Either way, it's off and running to the second floor, using its head start to its advantage. Zooooooooom!

When it reaches the communal bedroom, it immediately dives under one of the beds in particular.




Hope no one's keeping anything naughty there? ]

vayne catches up just in time to see it disappear under the bed. hm. ]

Um... can you please get out from under there? I don't know if everyone else will be happy if you're trying to take something. What are you even looking for anyway...?

[ Wow??? Good thing it's not, because wow.

Anyhow, Vayne's going to hear the fakest-sounding duck snoring coming out from under the bed. ]

Um, I'm not sure who you're trying to fool, but.

[ can he just. crouch down. duck his head to see what this odd duck is doing. ]

Because this duck thinks it's time to blow this scene from the opposite side. ]

[ Off it runs towards the stairs (yet again) as fast as its little feeties will take it! ]

[ that's what we thought you'd do, you chaotic little duck. guess who has longer legs though—

if vayne makes a dash for it can he grab and pick it up. ]

[ Nooooooooooooooooo! Curse its short leggies!

Yeah, he can sure grab the duck! It'll let out some distressed quacks as it tries not to drop its sack. ]

If you're trying to find something you can just ask, you know? ... Somehow. It's not nice to just barge in and run everywhere. ... Maybe Keito left a book around here? Can you even understand me if I tell you to point at words...?

[ can he tell what it is the duck might be holding in there, or is it protecting it too closely for that....... ]

[ This duck sure is giving him puppy dog eyes in response. ]

Quuuack...? Quack quack...

[ It's definitely protecting it closely, but Vayne could probably notice some form of paper sticking out through its little drawstrings. ]

[ hm. paper in the sack, huh...

looks through the house for the written word. ... finds a bunch of letters?

looks at the duck. ]

Um... If I put you down, do you promise to not run away or make a mess of things.

[ It looks reluctant, but after a pause, it nods. ]

sets the duck down at the desk

and by carefully I mean both gently and also watching it to see if it bolts. your move, duck.]

[ Not running! But it looks at Vayne questioningly. What does he wanna do with a duck? ]

[ he maybe feels a little ridiculous doing this right now? ]

Is there a way you can show me what you're trying to do or find? I've got a couple of the plant care guides around here if any of the words you'd find in those would help. Though if we're doing that I really hope you can read. Also, um...

What do you have in that bag, anyway...?

[ It looks incredibly unsure at the questions, but it does reach a little into its sack to pick out one paper for him to see.





It's absolute duckscratch. None of the words on the paper can be made out. ]

[ It puffs its chest out. Looks like it's proud of that paper. ]

[ The duck once again looks at Vayne with questioning eyes. ]

[ he has no idea what kind of reaction the duck is expecting from him so he just

nods????? yup? yes? good? mmhmm that's sure some choice duckscratch right there. ]

[ The duck frowns and sits down, kicking its little feeties while it slowly stares between Vayne and the door.

Then it takes out yet another item from its bag—a diamond.

It holds out to him with a simple quack. ]
