After the news from the town hall, Puffin Town might not seem as tranquil as before—if it ever did. But the sun dawns, and the rooster crows on a new week, that seems peaceful enough, for now. There's farming to be done for those who don't want to subsist off the vast canned food selection at Joja Mart, or you could take up your hand fishing or even venturing into the mines.

If you want to lay around on the grass taking count of the shapes in the clouds no one will stop you, an eager duck might even stop by to give you a pillow; but the cost of the harvest looms overhead, even if you choose not to see it.

And so too does: confetti? Monday, at precisely noon, everyone will find themselves showered with confetti from seemingly nowhere. The culprit largely seems to be the ducks, but if you're somewhere closed off like bathroom, there's no obvious instigator in sight. Though if you squint real hard, you might see the wisps of something? It's hard to see through all the colorful paper, though. Regardless, you'll soon find yourself accosted by a duck with a flyer, printed and worn:

Festival!

The Colors You Want to See Festival!
Do you find the walls of your cottage drab? Do you want to add a special touch to make your home YOURS? Stop by the general store this week and pick up some art supplies to decorate your life! NOTE: Puffin town does not take responsibility for any damage incurred during the decorating process. Participation will be rewarded with an item from the community stockpile! Please see the event organizer in the community center to submit your polaroid photograph of your entry. (Polaroids are available at the general store.)

Maybe calling it a festival is a stretch, but it's certainly a group activity nonetheless. And hey, there's even prizes! The duck, ever eager, presses another paper into your hand, though this one is handwritten, in a cursive elegant hand.

Someone told me that receiving a gift is a reward in itself. But if you share with others, you deserve something tangible, don't you? Try it, you might be surprised at what you receive.

doggie daycare

[ It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that one of Keito's favorite places is the doggie daycare, so of course he stops over when he gets the chance. As usual, some of the little dachshunds try to trip him as he walks, but he still pets them anyway with a grin.

Once he notices Sora though, he'll stop the petting for a moment to wave. ]

Hey, Otonashi! Are you here to draw the dogs?

[ One of the dachshunds then proceeds to lightly tackle him for the crime of stopping. This is fine. ]

[ He laughs at the image of this giant being tackled by such a tiny thing. ] You want one?

[ Yeah, he's absolutely losing to the tinies. ]

I think I already have one!

[ Or multiple because now the other dachshund is getting in on the action, forcing him to regroup so he can start calming them down more with pets. ]

[ He lets the pupper he's petting join in on the mauling, too. ] You look like you really belong with them.

[ Wow, traitor??? He dramatically falls backward, much to the triumph of the puppies. ]

[ He pouts at that, but he's obviously holding back some laughter. ]

Ahh, when you put it that way, I can't even deny it! How come they aren't going after you the same way?

[ Why does it feel like these dogs are laughing too??? ]

Because they can sense it. [ He leans on his hand amusedly. ]

[ Even while they're sitting on him, they're still demanding pets. ]

I can't even not pet them, that's impossible,

[ This is his life now, being part of literal dogsitting. ]

I am! Is this supposed to be revenge, Otonashi?! [ They're so cute, but calm down doggies! ]

If this is revenge, isn't it the best kind. [ He'll try to help though, and at least pull a few of them away. ]

And the fluffiest too, I bet. [ At least he can get up now...to keep petting dogs, but at least it's more comfy when a bunch of them aren't making him their chair. ]

Not yet, thankfully. How about you? I think you were here longer than me. [ Petting all the dogs right now. ]

I'm unfortunately used to it. [ ... ] I should probably stretch soon though...

Yeah, stretches and stretch breaks are important! Otherwise, everything just starts feeling as cramped and uncomfy as a packed elevator. Even if they're filled with, say, dogs.

You've been in an elevator full of dogs?

[ But he rises for that stretch. ]

That's happened to me before in a dream. I'm pretty sure I spent a lot of time writing about their barks when it happened.

They have different barks? ... No, that makes sense, actually.

Right! But after a while, I couldn't hear it all. They started talking over each other, arguing about the best way to get the elevator moving.

[ So weirdly argumentative! ]

I remember really wanting to stretch a lot that morning when I woke up.

Wait, you could understand their conversation? Well... I guess it is a dream.

[ His profile labelled him as a puppy-like student for a reason. ]

Yeah, anything's possible in a dream. ...At least until you wake up.
