TRIAL TWO
TRIAL
Once again, the investigations conclude -- though they're more ponderous this time, burdened by the number and knowledge of additional deaths, and the awareness that there's limited means of dealing with them -- and once again the ducks gather everyone at the back of the JojaMart along with Makima's wagon, Adela's quiet, the pile of evidence.
Everyone trundles into the loading bay, which isn't all that much livelier than before, penned in by stacks of shelves and crating; but at least it's functional, overly well-lit and there's tea to while away the time discussing murders and mayhem.
As the loading bay door slides closed, you're left with a wagonful of evidence, a double handful of murders and the knowledge that time is ticking down -- for everyone.
(( OOC: Welcome to trial: the sequel! You'll have 7 hours (until 8 PM EST/5 PM PST) to vote one (1) person guilty of murder. As this is scapegoat style, a correct vote is not necessary. Please remember to vote unless otherwise discussed with the mods, as that is our AC for this game. ))

[...Then someone else would have taken the fall. Noah cuts himself off, cursing beneath his breath. It's over.]

[ She would reach out, but she doesn't feel like she has the right to anymore. ]
It's okay.
It was my fault.

[It takes everything, everything Noah has not to yell.]
You're not at fault for defending yourself. Don't you dare.
[But in this place, it doesn't matter that she'd fought to preserve her own life. That's what hurts the most.]

[ She's convinced of that fact, anyway. ]
...Both he and I made our mistakes, and we're paying the price. That's how this place works.
[ Her expression starts to fall. ]

[They both know how this place works. They've been here long enough to accept the consequences that come with their actions. There's no need to remind Noah of that when he and Kuki understood each other well.]
Do you have any regrets?

[ Because if she allowed it to go any longer, who knows? He might've switched targets. There were three vulnerable people on the floor, after all. ]
Both can be true.

Of course. Ending a life is never an easy decision— at least, it shouldn't be. When someone attacks you, you're left with no other choice.

No matter what happens, don't blame yourself. In the situation you were in, there was little else you could do.
