WEEK TWO

23 Villagers

Three people have fallen and a tower has risen. Along with it, some of the restraints on your mind have dispersed and a memory has returned to you - is it precious, is it painful? Is it cherished, is it loathed?

Mercilessly, dawn breaks on another morning. The rooster still calls, and the crops still need tending to. Rise and shine, Puffin Town! It seems like the residents are not the only thing that has chosen to rise, as a few more establishments have opened up for exploration. The sound of moo-ing near the farms may feel especially inviting here - how about making some new additions to your farms, to drown out your loneliness?

There is no festival just yet but if you question the ducks on it, some excited quacking will herald fun things to come later in the week. Some of the ducks will also wave the gift notes from last week; regardless of murder, being kind to your neighbors is still encouraged! Can't let our beautiful town sink into gloom and doom, right?

(( OOC: Murder proposals are due by Tuesday at 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST, for the current week's murder, but feel free to submit for later weeks if you like!

We have also added a page to report your Astera planting - this does not need to have been threaded, we're just taking stock on an OOC level.

Further, the Gift Mechanic has been updated. All turned in threads will now yield a character specific item as a reward! We're only dipping into the random gacha once all personalized rewards have been given out.))

[ That is a good question!

It seems to be currently mimicking the act of hoeing. Then it lets out a series of quacks that maybe sound like Nine if you try hard enough.

And once that's done, it takes a step to the right, still making hoeing motions. But now its quacks are back to its normal pitch.

Communication is hard! ]

[The beach isn't necessarily the top of his list when it comes to places he tends to visit during the day, but it's hard to miss Enkidu's distinctive tresses when he passes by. However, he does stand and watch from a distance for a bit before he bothers approaching, boots sinking lightly into the sand.]

That depends. What mischief are you up to today?

[ It looks at her with one of the most exasperated expressions ever seen on duckkind. ]

[He reaches to snag the duck by its little sweater collar...and probably misses due to the blind debuff.]

[Like a number of others, Niles has come to browse the selection at the livestock show, although whether he actually feels like bringing an animal or two back to the farm is another matter entirely. Still, that doesn't stop him from looking around with a critical eye, which apparently also means keeping a close watch on any fellow captives in the area. Not that Mio's interest in the cows is hard to miss, anyway.]

Better than dying in the hands of an owner who can't care for both. Leave one here, and at least someone'll continue tending to it.

[Probably. They look pretty healthy, close enough.]

Uh... eggs?

[ Please let it be for the eggs and not some bird cannibalism thing. She can only take so much. ]

[ It stares at her for a few more seconds, waiting for her to put it down.

That's her only warning before it flaps its wings and twists around to bite her, clearly angry at being held in the air. ]

Quackquackquack!

[ The quacks and bites won't stop coming until it's free! ]

Wait, where are you...

[ Oh! Enkidu grabs a hold of the package?!

...Okay, then. They begin to try to open it up. What's inside? ]

[ It's a decorative furniture! ]

[ Enkidu's smile is a little serene, fitting with the topic as they imagine potential prospects of what chocobos might look like. ]

I suppose it isn't impossible. Though, it might be that this place was always larger than we might have imagined.

[ Aw...well, Enkidu gives the duck a reassuring smile. ]

[ Amy nods, staring at them awkwardly for a moment. Then, said too fast: ] I was thinking that... um, I have a friend who might like this sort of thing.

[ beat. anyway. ]

What else is contradictory?

[ It shuffles its feet at that, looking somehow unsure.

But then it seems to remember something, waddling its way to a nearby bush. ]

[ The duck is too agitated now, making incredibly loud distress calls while attempting to draw blood. Now to mention how its flapping is getting even more intense and frantic, clearly trying to reach for the ground.

Sure you don't want to let go? ]

[ .......oh, that's right. This guy did say he's some kind a chemistry teacher, isn't he? It doesn't make it any less bizarre to venture into their new allotment of space and find who she thought was a high school teacher turned up to extreme mad scientist. ]

Wizard's Tower

[Walter happens to be briefly leaving the laboratory area to check if there are any extra alchemy books in his efforts to make the archaic technologies more capable of modern invention, but pauses and looks over the new face before reaching for a book.]

...tell me if you find anything less mystical. There's a lot of folklore texts in here.

She drops it on the ground.]

[ It continues trying to bite all the way until it's let down. Thankfully, it stops when it touches the ground...because now it's scampering off, shouting as many duck warning calls as it can with its little body.

Well, you tried? ]

[She raises her voice.]

Don't think I won't be able to find you, little rat.

[ That sure was a weekend, huh. After depression napping away most of Sunday, Vayne can be found in the early morning tending to the various planted seeds and crops of ghost orchid farms, maybe dipping a little into taking care of Keito's plot too if no one else has, since... well. You know.

Other than that, later in the day he can be found out and about in various places! Maybe you can find him contemplating deeper trips into the mines at the adventurer's guild, or going through the stands at gourmet's gallivant food vendors, trying out some of the snacks on offer.

Most of the day, though, he'll be found at the wizard's tower and alchemy lab, going through the bookshelves and perusing the tomes with a studious diligence, but also sometimes a sense of bewildered bafflement: ]
