WEEK TWO

23 Villagers

Three people have fallen and a tower has risen. Along with it, some of the restraints on your mind have dispersed and a memory has returned to you - is it precious, is it painful? Is it cherished, is it loathed?

Mercilessly, dawn breaks on another morning. The rooster still calls, and the crops still need tending to. Rise and shine, Puffin Town! It seems like the residents are not the only thing that has chosen to rise, as a few more establishments have opened up for exploration. The sound of moo-ing near the farms may feel especially inviting here - how about making some new additions to your farms, to drown out your loneliness?

There is no festival just yet but if you question the ducks on it, some excited quacking will herald fun things to come later in the week. Some of the ducks will also wave the gift notes from last week; regardless of murder, being kind to your neighbors is still encouraged! Can't let our beautiful town sink into gloom and doom, right?

(( OOC: Murder proposals are due by Tuesday at 4 PM EST / 1 PM PST, for the current week's murder, but feel free to submit for later weeks if you like!

We have also added a page to report your Astera planting - this does not need to have been threaded, we're just taking stock on an OOC level.

Further, the Gift Mechanic has been updated. All turned in threads will now yield a character specific item as a reward! We're only dipping into the random gacha once all personalized rewards have been given out.))

...I wish they had chocobos here too. They sound really cute. Oh, wait, but if they're similar, maybe I can paint them if they really look the same big bigger.

[ This blue sweatered duck has set a scarecrow on fire.

There's a glimmer of expectation in its eyes as the scarecrow burns, and by god, it won't stop quacking.

While there aren't any crops around, the fire's still within the farmstead...bringing the attention of other ducks in the area. Thankfully, it doesn't take long for them to band together to put it out. And so the day is saved (?)!

It doesn't take a genius to guess what happens next to the duck in blue though: the scolding of a lifetime. Not that the duck seems to be particularly contrite after seeing the fire die down. Just...despondent.

What an odd duck. ]

It does seem strange to put us in a situation like this and give us a place to relax.

[ Still looking pretty blue, it flaps its wings as it talks. Understand now? ]

[ He looks back at the chickens again, taking into consideration their size and general bone structure... ]

The Piko were a lot bigger than these are when they were babies, so I doubt it...

[ But hey, this world is full of surprises. ]

[ Yep, to Enkidu this is definitely 'modern'. ]

Maybe it is entirely on purpose?

I wouldn't be surprised. The nature of this place is quite contradictory at times, to our detriment.

[ Enkidu says this with ease, and yet...they don't let it all drag them down. There's no reason for that anymore. ]

I hope we can use the fact that there are relaxation facilities to our advantage, instead of it affecting us adversely, however.

[ They are not so optimistic to believe it would forever put off murder. But maybe if it does for a little amount of time, then...]

[ That sure is happening.

Enkidu looks curiously at the fire that's happening, and it is quite a sight. Instead of being angry, they are simply inquisitive, however. ]

...Now, what did you do that for?

Quack... Quack quack...

[ Its head hangs downwards. Maybe it was not the sight it was hoping for. ]

[ Or something. ]

Maybe they will get them eventually? This place keeps getting bigger for some reason.

[ Magic pocket space or something ] So you can paint? As in with a brush and all?

It's really weird. Think they are raising them to eat or something?

[Erika... approaches the blue sweatered duck. And after it's done being scolded, she will hum thoughtfully and... pick it up by it's hood.]

Quack once for yes. Quack twice for no.

Yeah. Think like these guys but much, much bigger. Big enough you can ride. [ hmm ] What's a peeko?

[ Quizzically quacking three times, because ey yo what??? ]

This is pretty quackers, yo.

[ It nods vigorously at that before sighing. Or at least looking like it's sighing.

Then it stares at Nine's hands. Is he carrying something by any chance? ]

[ Mood ]

Uh. If it's fire you want, then maybe you can go hang at that weapon forge?

[ Nine is carrying a garden hoe in one hand. ]

[Anybody on or near Chocolate Cosmos farm will be having to deal with a particularly disoriented and bothered Walter. He hasn't slept the greatest, so he's largely distracting himself via pouring coffee grounds onto some recently planted seeds and pacing back and forth on the premises.

There is some relief to be found for him mentally though when he decides to venture to that new wizard's tower and discovers the alchemy lab--oh, finally. The tools are a bit more archaic than what he's used to, but he's able to figure them out through some reading and his own knowledge and has some concoctions cooking in beakers. He's got some rubber gloves and an apron on as well, because lab safety is important no matter how archaic the lab.]

Alchemy is essentially a grandfather of chemistry. That's how this sort of thing is even possible.

[duckinghell]

[ It looks disappointed once again when it sees the hoe. But at least it seems to consider what Nine is saying. ]

Quack.

[ What does that quack mean? Who knows?

Anyway, now it's trying to touch the hoe. ]

[ Wow don't insult his hoe like that ]

Huh? This? Do you want something like this? [ Does the duck even have strength in their flap flaps or bird fingies? ]

A similar thing, it sounds like. They're large birds that you can ride. They look like chickens, but have the general shape of an ostrich.

[It comes as something of a surprise to see Mio willingly submerged in such hot water, but if anything, Noah assumes she hasn't been here long enough to grow tired of the heat. Besides, there really is nothing like a hot bath after getting caked in dirt all day from toiling on the farm. It certainly beats washing off blood and viscera.

Noah settles beside her in the water, acutely aware of the strain all this farmwork has had on his muscles once the heat's begun to sink in. Tending to the field works an entirely different set of muscles than the ones Noah's used to working out with his Blade, but the spa gives him a good excuse to relax his body so he can get right back to work first thing in the morning. Not a bad life, all things considered, even if his mind remains on returning home as soon as possible.]
